Sweet Tea and Chicken Pox

As I am beginning this blog I have just spilled a glass of sweet tea all over my living room rug. This seem to be the current theme of our lives these days, spilled sweet tea and chicken pox. Yes, chicken pox! I received a call this morning from our precious daycare worker who informed me of an "unusual breakout" on our 23 month old foster baby's little legs, arms, and face.  After checking in with our local pediatrician, it is confirmed, he has chicken pox! When I took chicken out of the freezer this morning to make chicken-n-rice for dinner, I never imagined the impact the word "chicken" would have on me for the rest of my day and potentially days to come. You see, I've never had chicken pox. So, I guess the real question here is, "AM I CHICKEN?"

The answer to this is simple. NO. I am not. I am not too chicken to have foster children in my home. I am not chicken to raise a "spiritual" teenage daughter in my home. I am not too chicken to be a mother to my three adorable children, Jacob, Dawson, and Maddie. And I am not too chicken to write a blog.

I believed the Lord himself has called me to write. I believe He has called me to parent. I believe He has called me to encourage others. So, whether you are experiencing spilled tea or chicken pox I encourage you to take heed to the words of Paul in Ephesians.

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. ~ Ephesians 5:2
